MICE Magazine

MICE Magazine

About:

The 4:3 Collective formed in response to a dearth of sustained engagement with the vicissitudes, vagaries, and victories of contemporary media arts practice.

We wanted to produce discourse around contemporary moving image culture and we wanted to discuss the conditions under which media art is produced. That’s why we founded MICE [Moving Image Culture Etc.] Magazine. We considered the landscape of arts publications and asked ourselves: What should (or could) a new media arts magazine look like? How would we distribute it? Which publishing traditions did we wish to continue, and which did we wish to challenge?

The result is MICE, an online periodical devoted to critical writing and artists’ projects about and within moving image culture. It is published twice annually in Toronto, but its focus is international.
